Video Editing and Subtitling Protocols by Hasan Felat Kocahal

DigiLTE project team is currently working hard to finalize WP2 (Digital Cataloguing of Language Classroom Interaction) and prepare for WP3 (Digital Transformation of Language Teacher Education with Data-informed Evidence). As part of Digital Cataloguing of Language Classroom Interaction, the project team collected large sets of video-recordings data from language classrooms across the partnering countries. Upon cataloguing the data after the conversation analytic examination of recordings, DigiLTE team anonymized the videos and turned recordings into teaching materials to be used as the basis for the DigiLTE Environment (follow updates) for socially-informed teacher education activities online.

For this purpose, Hasan Felat Kocahal (DigiLTE team member, MA student at TED University) prepared three video editing/subtitling protocols (for iMovie and DaVinci Resolve) for the editing of classroom interaction videos. The protocol has recently been published with open access as a part of the recent report “ICOP-L2 Survey on Approaches to Transcription and Video Editing” prepared based on ICOP-L2 (Interactional Competences and Practices in a Second Language) community responses by Klara Skogmyr Marian (Stockholm University) and Ufuk Balaman (DigiLTE Project Coordinator, TED University).
